Dear Parents:
I am so excited about the upcoming year! We are going to have a great time in this class, and we are going to learn a great deal together. When I say together, I mean all of us…your child, you, and me! We will be working together as a team with a common goal. That goal is to educate and nurture your son or daughter. You see, I believe firmly that we all must work together if the children are to succeed. I cannot do it alone; you cannot do it alone; certainly, the students cannot do it alone.
Please be involved in your child’s studies. Learn about functions for the first time or all over again along with your child. The rewards for active participation in your child’s education may be hard to see now, but will be more obvious on down the road, I assure you.
Curriculum areas we will focus on this year include expressions and equations, linear functions, polynomials and nonlinear functions, radical and rational functions, and data analysis.
I will work to the best of my ability to teach the Algebra 1 course so that your child will obtain a “good” understanding of the material. I will care for your child to increase his or her self-worth because each child is important to me. There are no losers in my room. True, there will be students that demonstrate behavior that is unacceptable, and we must deal with it. I will try to be fair and open about the problems, and I will let you know of any-if and when they arise.
If you have any questions or concerns or if you would like to visit our classroom, schedule a conference, or volunteer to help out, you can contact me by phone at (901) 752-2881 or by email at jfulton@scsk12.org. The best time to reach me is during school hours.
From all of this, I hope you have gotten the idea that I take my job seriously, and I want to do the best for your son or daughter while they are in my care. Let’s work to make this a great year!
Sincerely,
Ms. Jamilia Fulton
